The Manager, Grant Operations role exists to drive the Program Management strategy and processes for delivering excellence in managing WVA’s large portfolio (AUD $200m) of complex grants from government and multilateral donors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Grant Operations Officers to provide operational, process and compliance support to the Program Management department. A key aspect is leading the development of strategies, systems, processes and capabilities in support of delivering excellence in grants management. The Manager provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure that the department is equipped to deliver on all donor compliance requirements, has full visibility of grant performance, and is focussed on continuous improvement.

The Grant Operations team plays a pivotal role in building highly collaborative relationships across the Field Impact Group and providing the group with an end-to-end view of the grants pipeline and compliance requirements, and managing this information. As grants are awarded to WVA, the Grant Operations team will play a key role in supporting the ‘standing up’ of these new grants, supporting WVA to fulfil the legal and audit requirements, including around income recognition. The Manager’s responsibilities will include leading and coordinating work with relevant stakeholders across World Vision Australia to develop processes, templates, tools, and other materials to make this system as efficient as possible and to drive ongoing improvements in grant finance and contractual management.

Who we're looking for

As the successful applicant, you will have a breadth of capabilities, including a strong customer service approach towards all stakeholders and experience in working in an agile and responsive manner.  In addition, you will have: 

  • Understanding of the international aid and development context, and key international actors/donors
  • Understanding of procurement or grants structures and processes of the Australian Government, public service, and/or other international organisations
  • An understanding of the unique needs and requirements of government and multilateral donors within an international development context, and experience articulating, communicating and delivering
  • Demonstrated application of technical skills in a relevant context (program/project management, NFP/NGO, public service, foundation or other donor)
  • An understanding of the unique needs and requirements of government and multilateral donors within an international development context, and experience articulating, communicating and delivering
  • Process mapping, business planning and reporting and improvement
  • Contract and project management, project methodologies and theory
  • Financial data analysis, planning, reporting and management;
  • Demonstrated experience managing grant funded programs
  • Management of small-medium professional teams
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications: such as Business/commerce, International Relations/International Development, accounting, legal, or a relevant technical field
  • Advanced MS Excel or equivalent
