The Opportunity to Make a Difference:

The DevOps Engineer role exists to bridge the gap between traditional IT Infrastructure and modern web architecture by implementing, maintaining and optimising solutions in support of WVA’s digital transformation programme of work.


A day in the life of WVA’s DevOps Engineer includes:

The DevOps Engineer’s primary responsibility is to champion the migration of legacy web applications into Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, and any redevelopment of those applications if required. The DevOps Engineer also acts as WVA’s cloud technology subject matter expert and shares his skills and expertise with other IT and digital team members. 

This role will report directly to the Digital Solutions Architect and the key responsibilities will be:

  • Act as the Microsoft Azure Cloud subject matter expert and technical lead for WVA’s cloud migration project
  • Build, supports and maintains WVA’s web hosting platforms
  • Build, supports and maintains CI/CD pipelines
  • Works collaboratively with the broader digital team to support the development of various web applications
  • Is the infosec key point of contact within WVA’s digital team and implements solutions in support of the WVA’s secure development standard
  • Actively works towards keeping WVA’s digital platforms secure and PCI compliant
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of test automation tools


Who are you?

You have a strong understanding and extensive experience working with:

  • Microsoft Azure Cloud solutions, specifically web application hosting & architecture (at least 5 years of commercial experience)
  • .NET 4 & 4.5, .NET Core & IIS web server (+4 years)
  • Microsoft SQL Server (2012+)
  • REST/JSON APIs, microservices
  • CI/CD methodologies, processes and tools
  • Scripting in PowerShell
  • Automated test systems

And working knowledge of:

  • Web security practices
  • Experience with Scrum, Agile, Test Driven Development (TDD), Business Driven Development (BDD)
  • SiteFinity/SiteCore or other similar ecommerce platform or CMS
  • JavaScript technologies (JQuery, AJAX), AngularJs/Vue.js 


What you need to know

This role is a 6 months fixed term contract operating in a full-time capacity and will be based at our head office in Burwood East, Victoria.
