The Grant Operations Officer is responsible for overseeing operational processes, information management and donor compliance requirements for WVA's large portfolio of complex grants from government and multilateral donors.


A day in the life of WVA's Grant Operations Officer includes:

The Grant Operations Officer is responsible for providing operational, process and compliance support to both the Program Development and Program Management departments. Key elements of this include:

  • ensuring that complex grants with unique requirements are transitioned from acquisition to implementation as efficiently as possible;
  • coordinating the engagement with Legal to ensure that all contracts and agreements are appropriately reviewed;
  • managing financial processes to ensure funds are committed to field offices and income is able to be booked;
  • information management in relation to the grants portfolio to provide accurate and insightful business intelligence (e.g. budget forecasting);
  • providing support to the Program Management department in understanding and adhering to donor compliance requirements;
  • and playing a key role in implementing process improvements that support the department to deliver excellence in grants management.


Who are you?

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge and experience.

  • An understanding of the unique needs and requirements of government and multilateral donors within an international development context, and experience articulating, communicating and delivering;
  • Financial and management reporting; business planning;
  • Demonstrated application of technical skills in a relevant context (program/project management, NFP/NGO, public service, foundation or other donor);
  • Ability to rapidly learn customised systems;
  • Process mapping and business improvement;
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify links between different processes and data sets, and the flow-on impacts of different decisions;
  • The ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders and leverage these for desired outcomes;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Business/Commerce, International Relations, International Development would be advantageous.


What you need to know

This role is a fixed term contract until 13 December 2019, operating in a full-time capacity and will be based at our head office in Burwood East, Victoria.
