The Opportunity to Make a Difference:

Australian NGO Cooperation Partnership (ANCP) is currently the largest grant for World Vision Australia (WVA), with 35 ANCP projects and an annual budget of $37 million. 

Coordination and consolidation of gender outcomes from these projects represents significant potential – to enhance articulation of the empowerment and rights of girls and women.

 

A day in the life of WVA’s ANCP Gender Advisor includes:

Working closely with our Senior Evidence and Learning Gender Advisor and Senior Economic Development Advisor – Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) to:

  • Strengthen WVA’s evidence base, knowledge and capacity in achieving gender equality outcomes;
  • Provide technical leadership to ANCP to ensure integration of gender in all projects across the project cycle;
  • Assess and address National Office/Project gender capacity, resources and needs; and  
  • Meet team responsibilities as a valued member of Evidence and Learning ‘Core Team’ and support ANCP Team as directed.

The role also works closely with grant managers in Australia, the WVA Evidence and Learning Team and partner national offices.

This is an Australian-based role to support WVA to fulfil our ANCP mandate of “improving living standards and wellbeing in communities in developing countries, in synergy with DFAT priorities” (DFAT ANCP program logic). As a member of the Evidence and Learning team with strong connections to ANCP team, you will engage in in-country monitoring and liaison with relevant partners including World Vision national offices.

Specifically, you will:

  1. Provide gender technical support to ANCP projects across sectoral areas throughout the project cycle complimenting gender technical support provided by the other two gender technical specialist roles.  In particular, you will provide significant gender inclusive monitoring and evaluation support, including through support of key baseline, mid-term and end-term evaluations, their methodologies, tools and the development of communication materials to promote gender -related learnings and outcomes.
  2. Support national offices to plan and conduct gender analyses to ensure and enhance outcomes for girls and women. This includes helping to develop and disseminate gender-related tools and build gender capacity as needed of WVA and NO staff to ensure a systematic approach to gender integration across WVA’s ANCP portfolio.
  3. Further develop knowledge of gender principles, practices and sector trends with colleagues in Australia, including WVA, DFAT and other ANCP NGOs and help identify opportunities for shared learning within WV and among ANCP partner organisations.

 

Who are you?

As the ideal candidate you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a field relevant to international development, preferably including gender equality
  • Knowledge of international development sector (International experience an advantage)
  • Experience in supporting gender inclusive designs including gender analysis and related gender mainstreaming strategies and activities
  • Experience in supporting gender inclusive M&E and data collection including field-based quantitative and qualitative research including ethical considerations and utilisation principles like ‘do no harm’
  • Understanding emerging models of partnering between NGOs and government/international organisations
  • Experience and strong understanding of DFAT, institutional donors and/or World Vision gender frameworks, policies and/or programming

 

What you need to know

This role is a fixed term contract (until 30 June 2021) operating in a full-time capacity (Part-time / 4 days can be considered) and will be based at our head office in Burwood East, Victoria.

This position requires occasional travel (Domestic & International).
