The position

As a Project Facilitator you will support the development and implementation of West Kimberley ECCD project, which is implemented in 3 Aboriginal communities in the West Kimberley Region of Western Australia. 

This is a hand`s on role which requires flexibility. You will provide support and mentoring to build community capacity by recruiting, mentoring, and guiding playgroup facilitators, while working with local members and partners to deliver early childhood initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure Playgroups and Early Childhood activities are occurring regularly within community to support child development.
  • Provision of mentoring, coaching and support to the Early Childhood Reference Groups and other community members as appropriate
  • Annual implementation plans are developed and followed according to project design, including spending according to budget.
  • Provide one on one mentoring, coaching, supervision and providing guidance to local community-based World Vision Playgroup staff, to ensure clarity of expectations and a sense of belonging in the program.
  • Coordinate with external groups and stakeholders to organize for participation in and support for playgroups.
  • Progress of relevant project activities is monitored and reported on in consultation with the Program Manager
  • New project activities and opportunities identified and designed to achieve agreed outcomes across the project.

Who we’re looking for 

We are looking for someone with coaching experience, level of maturity, capacity building and experience in working with children.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated professional experience working with remote Aboriginal communities in a development context
  • Experience facilitating community consultations and influencing supporting community participation
  • Experience in providing mentoring, training, and support
  • Working in complex and dynamic environments
  • Sound knowledge of the cultural, political, economic, and social issues affecting Aboriginal people in remote Australia
  • Good understanding of, & firm commitment to, community development processes, gender equity, participatory approaches, and development theory
  • Demonstrated knowledge and 2 years of experience desirable working in the Early Childhood Sector
