Green Climate Fund Acquisition Manager

We are seeking an experienced GCF Acquisition Manager to lead the acquisition of major climate finance opportunities through the Green Climate Fund (GCF) pipeline.

This is a pivotal role within World Vision Australia's GCF Hub, responsible for transforming high-potential funding opportunities into compelling, investment-ready proposals that deliver meaningful climate outcomes for vulnerable communities around the world.

Leading complex, multi-million-dollar funding pursuits, you will bring together technical experts, finance specialists, programme teams, field offices and external partners to develop high-quality proposals from opportunity assessment through to funding approval, contract negotiation and handover for implementation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic proposal leader who thrives in complex environments, enjoys influencing diverse stakeholders, and has a proven ability to secure large-scale institutional funding.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead the end-to-end acquisition process for Green Climate Fund opportunities, from qualification through to approval and contracting.
  • Assess opportunity viability, strategic fit, competitiveness, delivery feasibility, partner readiness and acquisition risks.
  • Build and coordinate multidisciplinary acquisition teams, bringing together technical, financial, programme, safeguards, legal and partner expertise.
  • Drive the development of high-quality, evidence-based funding proposals that align with GCF investment criteria and World Vision requirements.
  • Lead proposal strategy, content integration, review processes and quality assurance to ensure submission readiness.
  • Coordinate engagement with GCF throughout the assessment process, managing responses to questions, clarifications and conditions.
  • Lead contract negotiations in partnership with Legal, Finance and technical stakeholders.
  • Oversee pre-contract mobilisation activities, including budgets, implementation planning, staffing structures and partner commitments.
  • Ensure a seamless transition from acquisition to delivery through structured handover processes and stakeholder alignment.

About You

You are a strategic and highly organised funding professional with strong commercial judgement and experience leading complex international funding proposals.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience securing institutional donor funding and leading large-scale, multi-partner proposal processes, preferably within climate finance and/or GCF environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in proposal strategy, development, writing, editing and quality assurance.
  • Strong stakeholder leadership skills, with experience coordinating contributors across countries, cultures, organisations and technical disciplines.
  • Sound commercial and financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, co-financing arrangements, risk management and contract negotiation.
  • Experience managing donor assessment, clarification and negotiation processes through to contract signature.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in international development, climate finance, business, project management or a related discipline. Relevant professional certifications or training will be highly regarded.
