The Position

Leads the methodology and practice across the Australia First Nations Program (AFNP) of partnering and transition of programming from WVA to First Nations partner organisations.

You will be coordinating input from staff, partner organisations, peak organisations, strategic partners and others to the documenting of consolidated practice guidelines for AFNP partnering and programming transition, including existing materials that capture AFNPs partnering principles and approach.

Location - Sydney or Melbourne

Responsibilities:

  • Advise and collaborate on the development and implementation of the consolidated practice guidelines for AFNP partnering and programming transition
  • Advise on the alignment of partnering and programming transition guidelines with the strategic plans of regional partner organisations and AFNP regional plans, project implementation plans and budgets
  • Draw on the insights and evidence of successful and unsuccessful partnering and programming transition to local and First Nations organisations and NGOs in Australia and internationally
  • Lead discrete projects of work which support AFNP evidence building or impact reporting
  • Document and collaborate with strategic partners to share evidence and insights to enable First Nations people and organisations to lead their own development
  • Provide technical support to AFNP staff to locally contextualise, apply and adapt the practice guidelines for AFNP partnering and programming transition
  • With a focus on regional priorities, support the Partnering & Planning Managers, Program Managers, partner organisations and Safeguarding Advisor to make practical, high-quality transition and capability plans and collaboration agreements
  • Play a key role in the development of regional plans for Eastern, Central and Western Australia
  • Engage with current and prospective supporters of AFNP partnering and programming

Who we’re looking for 

We are looking for someone self-driven with experience partnering and collaborating on community development programming with First Nations organisations, large NGOs, government agencies and people from diverse cultures and disadvantaged communities.

You will also have:

  • Experience developing and delivering guidelines for effective community development partnering in a range of contexts
  • Experience documenting and sharing development practice & evaluation
  • Sophisticated understanding of First Nations community contexts and organisational challenges across Australia
  • Experience conceptualising sustainable development models and approaches
  • Program design, monitoring and evaluation expertise
  • Strong communication and reporting skills adaptable to context and driving collaboration
  • Training, coaching and mentoring skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in community development, social science and other relevant qualifications
