As the Grant Accountant, you will be responsible for the financial support of grants and contracts from institutional and private donors. Proficient in project budgeting, utilising a high degree of commercial acumen, problem solving, financial modelling and with excellent stakeholder management skills you will enable the robust financial design and management of field projects.

Your role plays an integral part in the organisation, tackling global issues and supporting our mission to empower Australians to create meaningful change for the world’s most vulnerable.

Your responsibilities:

  • Coordinate financial planning process to enable successful business development and implementation.
  • Management of donor compliance and financial reporting
  • Responsible for the preparation of financial acquittals in line with donor requirements and submitted for review and sign-off in a timely manner.
  • Support field offices and country impact managers with project financial management advice including foreign currency, cash flow and budget management.
  • Improve efficiency of financial processes underpinned by the principle of good stewardship.
  • Identify and report risks during project delivery and recommend appropriate risk mitigations.
  • Build rapport and become a trusted advisor to business stakeholders.
  • Liase with colleagues in the wider finance department to address project roadblocks and develop sustainable process improvements.

Who we’re looking for 

We are looking for someone with Experience in financial analysis, business reporting, financial planning, budgeting and forecasting.

You will have:

  • 3-5 years of experience ideally within an international or multilateral organisation
  • Experience managing institutional donor contracts and compliance.
  • Experience building and interpreting financial models in a commercial setting.
  • Industry knowledge of international NGO’s, commercial contracting and/or carbon markets
  • Ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Microsoft Office 365 including Excel and Power BI
  • Accountant with appropriate qualification (Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting, CPA or similar) would be highly desirable.
