  • Confidently prepare and present menu items, supporting cooking and food preparation while maintaining food safety, quality and presentation standards
  • Provide hands-on support across all areas of café operations, including coffee, food preparation, customer service, cleaning, restocking, dishwashing and daily opening and closing procedures
  • Guide, support and motivate team members during daily service, helping to create a positive, calm and well-organised café environment
  • Take ownership of the café when the Café Area Manager is not onsite, supporting smooth operations, strong customer service and effective team coordination
  • Provide clear and timely updates to the Café Area Manager regarding staffing, operations, stock, wastage, incidents and any issues requiring attention
  • Support stock control, ordering, wastage tracking, cash handling, end-of-day processes and other operational administration as required
  • Work flexibly across Blackburn and Burwood cafés when needed, helping maintain consistent service and standards across both locations

About you

  • Strong barista skills, with the ability to prepare consistently high-quality coffee and uphold café standards during busy service periods
  • Cooking and food preparation experience, with confidence preparing café menu items while maintaining quality, presentation and food safety standards
  • Proven leadership capability, with a positive, practical approach to guiding, supporting and motivating team members throughout daily operations
  • Strong communication and reporting skills, with the confidence to provide clear, timely updates on staffing, operations, stock, wastage, incidents and service issues
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of the café when required and make sound decisions in a fast-paced café environment
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks, stay calm under pressure and keep service running smoothly
  • Flexible and willing to work across both Blackburn and Burwood café locations when necessary
  • A hands-on, team-first attitude and willingness to support all areas of café operations, from coffee and food preparation through to customer service, cleaning and daily procedures
