The Position
Supports the day to day activities of the World Vision Australia (WVA) Safeguarding team to ensure that WVA is a Child Safe organisation and fulfills its mission to protect the children and adults it serves.
This role assists WVA to effectively implement a range of initiatives relating to the implementation of the organisations Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy and Guidelines and works closely with the Manager, Child and Adult Safeguarding and other business stakeholders.
Ideal for someone who is committed to perusing a career in child and adult safeguarding in the international aid and development sector with on the job learning opportunities and the opportunity to work on a part time basis.
Part Time – 30 Hrs per week
Responsibilities include:
- Support on the provision of advice to WVA staff on matters relating to safeguarding policy, practice and guidelines
- Support the continuous improvement of WVA’s Safeguarding policy and practice
- Coordinate Safeguarding incident reports to ensure incidents are reported via Ethics Point in line with required timeframes
- Support on case management and coordination of Safeguarding incident reports
- Coordinate, develop and conduct Safeguarding training for departments within WVA
- Coordinate Safeguarding Communications and Awareness raising plans and activities
- Assist with implementing initiatives that ensure WVA continues to meet the requirements of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, Child Safe Standards, ACNP, DFAT, ACFID and World Vision International
- Coordinate safeguarding risk reporting and prepare quarterly risk reports for WVA Board
- Coordinate the delivery of the annual Safeguarding Workplan
- May from time to time assist the People and Culture Support team with projects and admin
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone with foundational knowledge and interest in child protection and safeguarding. You will be keen to learn, have excellent communication skills and able to engage and collaborate with many different stakeholders.
You will also have:
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and multitask to deliver multiple business priorities
- Coordination experience including tracking and overseeing the completion of actions to timeframes
- Experience in training development, facilitation and delivery
- Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information with integrity and discretion
- Degree in Social Sciences, International Development, Law or other relevant field or equivalent experience
