Senior Legal Counsel – 2025/26

This is an exceptional opportunity to join World Vision Australia, one of Australia’s leading international charities. World Vision Australia is dedicated to helping children and communities across the world overcome poverty and injustice. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel to cover for a parental leave period of 13 months.
About the role!
Our in-house Legal team is part of the broader Corporate Services department and provides wide-ranging legal advice to ensure we meet our legal and regulatory obligations. The Senior Legal Counsel role reports to the General Counsel and sits within a small, collaborative and high-performing legal team.
Ideally, you will have 3-5 years of post-admission experience, or perhaps you are further along in your career and have been waiting for an opportunity to take on a role where you can help change the world! Candidates returning from a career break are also encouraged to apply.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Deliver high quality and timely legal advice to all parts of the organisation, including Brand and Communications, Retail and Customer Experience, Programs and Contracts and Corporate Services.
- Advise on a wider range of legal issues in areas such as marketing, fundraising, privacy, development and humanitarian programming, technology, data protection, modern slavery, employment, and to a lesser extent, intellectual property, insurance, tax, disputes and property.
- Support in the delivery of our strategic plan including in relation to key initiatives like Child Sponsorship, 40 Hour Famine, 1000 Girls Campaign and Emergency Response Appeals.
- Work with other World Vision partnership offices across the world and with external legal advisers as required.
Who are you?
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Australian Practising Certificate and a minimum of 3 years’ PQE.
- A track record of providing high quality legal advice in a commercial/corporate environment including reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts (especially in some of the areas referenced above).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a range of internal/external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
- Advanced computer and systems literacy (Microsoft suite of programs).

This role is a full-time position based at our head office in Burwood East, Victoria (or potentially at our Woolloomooloo office in NSW).
