The position
As the Category Marketing Specialist – Child Sponsorship Retention, you will support the Category Marketing Manager in managing the full lifecycle of the child sponsorship experience. You’ll help ensure the program remains compelling and sustainable by driving strong retention during key moments like field drops, project completions, emergencies, and arrears. This role requires collaboration across teams and a deep understanding of supporter motivations to deliver timely, transparent, and empathetic communications that build trust and loyalty.
Your role plays an integral part in the organisation, tackling global issues and supporting our mission to empower Australians to create meaningful change for the world’s most vulnerable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute marketing strategies to drive growth and donor retention for the Child Sponsorship category.
- Collaborate with insights and analytics teams to identify opportunities and improve supporter engagement.
- Map and optimize the supporter journey, focusing on retention during critical moments (field drops, emergencies, arrears).
- Develop and implement targeted retention campaigns and sensitive communications in partnership with field and supporter teams.
- Manage sponsorship content, personalization, and competitor monitoring to enhance supporter connection.
- Oversee sponsorship fulfillment processes, ensuring timely, impactful communication and operational efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using AGILE methods and foster cross-team collaboration.
- Ensure all activities align with organizational goals, legal, and financial guidelines.

You will have:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing and retention management
- Strong commercial acumen and budget management skills
- Proven experience in marketing, product management, or related roles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in CRM systems, data analysis, and Microsoft Dynamics
- Passionate about the mission and values of World Vision Australia
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- Certified in Agile and Human-Centered Design methodologies
