Sponsorship Portfolio Manager
At World Vision Australia (WVA), we’re driven by a shared mission — to create lasting change for children, families, and communities living in poverty. Through our child sponsorship programs, we empower communities around the world to build brighter futures.
We’re looking for an experienced and passionate individual to join our team as a Sponsorship Portfolio Manager on an initial 6- month maternity leave contract (with a possibility of extending). In this pivotal role, you will oversee a portfolio of WVA-funded child sponsorship programs across multiple World Vision Field Offices, ensuring they deliver real, measurable impact. You’ll build strong, collaborative partnerships to ensure compliance, accountability, and alignment with WVA’s strategic goals.
You will lead engagement with Field Offices throughout the full project lifecycle — from assessment and design through to implementation and close-out — ensuring that every program meets WVA’s high standards for impact, integrity, and child wellbeing.

- Review and approve budgets, designs, and annual reports for WVA-funded programs within your portfolio.
- Ensure timely implementation of the WV Sponsorship Foundation Package and Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (DME) processes.
- Monitor program risks, safeguarding, and compliance with DFAT and WVA policies.
- Represent WVA professionally across our global network and ensure adherence to regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
Strategic Support and Collaboration
- Represent WVA interests in Field Office strategy development and implementation.
- Partner with other Support Offices to ensure effective coordination and compliance.
- Lead annual capacity assessments and provide technical input to strengthen Field Office performance.
Supporting WVA Strategic Objectives
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure the timely delivery of registered children for sponsorship.
- Provide accurate and compelling field content and reports to support marketing and donor engagement.
- Support alignment between Field Office priorities and WVA’s strategic focus areas, including climate resilience, disability inclusion, and community development.
To be successful in this role you will have…
- Proven experience managing complex project portfolios, ideally in an international development or humanitarian context.
- A strong understanding of program design, monitoring, and evaluation in developing country settings.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to distil complex information clearly.
- Sound budgeting and financial analysis skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain constructive relationships across diverse teams and cultural contexts.
- Capacity-building and training experience.
- A proactive, collaborative approach with strong problem-solving and influencing skills.
- Be results-oriented and accountable
- Adaptable and open to change
- A strong relationship builder and collaborator
- Driven by continuous learning and innovation
- Passionate about creating real impact for children and communities
