The Opportunity to Make a Difference:

The role is responsible for providing taxation and accounting expertise and advice.  The Financial Accountant is accountable for the integrity of transaction classification and recording; accuracy of key general ledger accounts; and provision of constructive advice and support to enable the business to provide timely, efficient and effective supporter centric solutions.  


A day in the life of WVA’s Financial Accountant includes:

The Financial Accountant role is responsible for preparing:

  • monthly Business Activity Statements,
  • quarterly carbon emissions reporting and
  • the annual Fringe Benefits Tax return. 

The role is also responsible for maintaining the fixed asset register and processing additions and disposals.  The role will be required to consistently apply a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.  Balanced with the requirement for prompt and accurate compliance is the need to remain flexible and responsive to critical requests within the team.

This role must demonstrate a service focus and approach processes and practices with a continuous improvement mindset. The role also involves month end close reconciliations and responding to ad hoc financial accounting requests from the business.  This role is impacted by calendar month end “next business day ledger close” and 30 September “Financial Year End” reporting cycles.  Activity peaks significantly between August and mid-October.


Who are you?

  • Tertiary Accounting Qualified
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of accounting standards and taxation rules
  • Experience in use of an accounting system
  • Proficient/advanced Excel skills
  • Tailors communication to non-financial stakeholders and delivers a customer service approach
  • Thrive within a diverse workplace and work collaboratively with team members
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure


This role is a permanent position operating in a part-time capacity (30h/w) and will be based at our head office in Burwood East, Victoria.
